EZ-Link, Touch ‘n Go launch dual-currency cross-border contactless card
It hosts two e-wallets in Singapore dollars and Malaysian ringgit.
Contactless payments platform EZ-Link and Malaysian e-wallet app Touch ‘n Go has launched the EZ-Link x Touch ‘n Go Motoring Card, touted as Southeast Asia’s first dual-currency cross-border contactless smart card, the two firms announced in a press release.
The card offers motorists payment options in both countries. It hosts two electronic purses – the EZ-Link purse in Singapore dollars, and the Touch ‘n Go purse in Malaysian ringgit.
The card will especially be useful once the cross-border travel between Singapore and Malaysia resumes. For example, Singapore motorists can use this card for Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) payments, checkpoint toll charges and parking fees at selected car parks in Singapore.
In Malaysia, it can be used to pay for highway tolls, checkpoint toll charges, parking fees as well as bus and MRT fares.
It is also accepted at Touch ‘n Go retail outlets.
An initial release of limited stocks will be made available for purchase on the official EZ-Link Store on Lazada Singapore at S$7 with no load value on 17 August.
Subsequently, the cards will be made available for sale at selected 7-Eleven convenience stores in Singapore at S$10 inclusive of S$3 load value in the EZ-Link purse in September.
Users can top up the EZ-Link purse and the Touch ‘n Go purse at regular channels in Singapore and Malaysia respectively.
