Vitasoy clinches top product excellence award for Unicurd Silken Box Tofu Twin Pack
It won the trophy in the Food category at the Made in Singapore Awards.
Vitasoy Singapore’s Unicurd brand of tofu remains to be a leading manufacturer of soy-based products since its establishment in 1980.
From its incorporation, consumers have been supporting the brand’s many products over the past decades. Whilst this continues to hold true, the changing of the times called for a change that the company identified may be solved through adapting to a new design for its two product lines.
Recognizing its best-selling product, Vitasoy Singapore further developed the Unicurd Silken Box Tofu line. The product has been around for a long time and is a favourite amongst Singaporean consumers.
To meet the changing needs and demands of its customers, the company decided to innovate and offer the Unicurd Silken Box Tofu Twin Pack 150gx2 and Unicurd Extra Smooth Silken Box Tofu Twin Pack 150gx2
With the changing demographics in Singapore and family units getting smaller, the company understood the need of consumers to cook in smaller portions. Identifying this challenge, this led Vitasoy to offer consumers a twin pack of 150g besides the traditional 300g box. On top of this packaging innovation, the products have been fortified with added calcium and high protein.
This was launched in October 2021 and has proven to be effective for the company.
The package option allows consumers to utilise only half the pack if desired and keep the other half unopened. The pack also has an easy peel top film which offers an all-rounded convenience for consumers.
For this manufacturing innovation, Vitasoy International Singapore Pte Ltd. received an award under the Food category of the recently concluded Made in Singapore Awards hosted jointly by Singapore Business Review and Manufacturing Asia.
The awards programme is a prestigious event that recognises exceptional business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) products conceptualised by a Singapore-based office or team.
The judging panel identified three highlights that led it to grant Vitasoy Singapore the award under the Food category. First is that the Unicurd Silken Box Tofu 150gx2 variations were listed at all major retailers. This shows that the product was well received not just by direct consumers but retailers as well.
Second is that the launch was executed with in-store point of sale materials, amplifying visibility for the product lines.
Thirdly, the product line in its 150gx2 packaging received positive feedback from consumers, proving that the company made the right move to innovate.
According to Vitasoy Singapore, consuming three servings per day of the Unicurd Silken Tofu will meet the recommended dietary allowance of both calcium and protein. These are also made from non-GMO soybeans and is halal and Healthier Choice certified.
Additionally, the company added a QR code on the front of the pack which consumers can scan. The code will then take them to the microsite containing all the product information, including the nutritional information panel and some quick recipes.
