HP’s printers of the future are now more capable and easier to use
The company wins in this year’s SBR Technology Excellence Awards.
As printers enter a new generation, more functionalities and features enable customers to get the most out of their printers for any requirements. HP aims to make it easier for users to enjoy their products without any hassle by launching the HP Smart Tank 7602.
The HP Smart Tank 7602 is part of the next generation of smart Ink Tank Printers that the company provides and was all designed and developed in Singapore, together with the collaboration from its global teams. For their effort, the company earned the Hardware - Computer Hardware Award at the 2023 SBR Technology Excellence Awards.
The awards programme recognises the success and achievements of companies in Singapore in developing world-class products and services aided by digital capabilities. HP distinguished themselves from their competition by integrating smart technologies into their printer to make the lives of customers easier.
Printers that come with a WIFI connection commonly require a stable connection to ensure that the device will work reliably and seamlessly with a PC, notebook, or mobile device. Whilst this may not be the case for some due to their WIFI infrastructure, HP invented Dual-band WIFI self-healing and added it into the Smart Tank 7602, allowing the printer to automatically recover local network failures and maintain a reliable Wi-Fi connection with a wireless router.
In order to accommodate more features and functions without making the experience of navigating through it a challenge, HP replaced the traditional printer interface with the Magic Touch Panel and the HP Smart App. The app, available in Android, iOS, PC, and Mac, allows users to conveniently use the printer and allows them to customise functions quickly, being much more flexible than other print and scan products and making set up easier without the need for complicated user manual guides.
The HP Smart App can connect with the printer through Bluetooth during set-up and guides users step by step in setting up their printers, loading paper, installing ink, and other tasks. The app makes the process easier with detailed animations and translated instructions that improve users’ experience over printed instructions.
The Magic Touch Panel, along with the Smart-Guided Lighting, transforms the walk-up experience and printer navigation into a simple and interactive journey. The touch screen makes it easier for users to access various settings and information such as ink and paper levels, as well as operate printer functions through standard or shortcut selections.
The HP Smart Tank can also detect and alert users on low or completely exhausted ink or paper. The smart lighting complements on-screen alerts, flashing in a particular colour above the paper tray or through the tank window, depending on levels and statuses.
Building on the company’s history of introducing sustainable products, the HP Smart Tank 7000 Series is HP’s first ink tank printer to be made from over 25% recycled plastic, with the compatible HP ink bottles able to be recycled through HP Planet Partners that further supports the company’s vision for a closed loop recycling process and reducing the amount of virgin plastic used.
