Lexis® Clause Intelligence: An AI-Powered Legal Drafting Tool

First of its kind in Singapore, the latest solution from LexisNexis reimagines legal drafting.

Drafting legal documents can be time-intensive and tedious, as legal professionals painstakingly reduce ambiguity to prevent misinterpretation, all whilst under the pressure of maintaining the currency of legal documents. LexisNexis Southeast Asia, a leading legal research and analytical solutions provider, developed Lexis® Clause Intelligence, an AI-powered drafting tool that adds a new level of intelligence to a user’s drafting workflow, supported by industry-leading content.

Lexis Clause Intelligence leverages sophisticated Artificial Intelligence to provide relevant, expertly-drafted clause suggestions at the click of a button. For this first-of-its-kind tool specially tailored for the Southeast Asian market, LexisNexis received the AI - Legal Award in this year’s SBR Technology Excellence Awards.

The awards programme recognises innovations and breakthroughs aided by digital capabilities from companies in Singapore, and LexisNexis distinguished themselves from their peers with the effectiveness and potential of Lexis Clause Intelligence.

This AI-powered drafting tool draws from an extensive bank of over 20,000 clauses and sub-clauses authored by legal experts and draws suggestions that fit seamlessly into a user’s existing legal document in three simple steps.

First, the user’s document is analysed, and through state-of-the-art semantic matching capability, areas, where recommended clauses and sub-clauses are available, will be pinpointed within seconds. Notably, Lexis Clause Intelligence does not store the uploaded document beyond the current session, and users needn’t worry about data privacy.

Secondly, recommendations are then displayed alongside the original document, allowing users to analyse, compare, and select the best alternative clause, maximising ease and efficiency, accelerated further by the signature tracking bar that highlights clauses with possible recommendations.

Not only does Lexis Clause Intelligence provide recommendations, but the algorithm can also spot risks and contextualise decision points by surfacing all relevant data such as drafting notes, related precedents, and international content. With expert guidance on what to consider when using a specific clause, users can formulate a solid document faster and with more confidence.

Tailoring a document to deliver better client outcomes has truly never been easier!

Finally, users can enjoy flexibility with the download feature, allowing them to easily adapt clauses into their original document by either downloading all recommended clauses or simply selecting clauses to be incorporated. There is virtually no learning curve with this intuitive and easy-to-use solution.

Thanks to Lexis Clause Intelligence, the many hours and steps involved in legal drafting can be reduced to mere minutes, as this AI-powered drafting assistant navigates pools of content and frees up time for users to focus on applying their expertise to the more unique circumstances of a matter.
