Princeton Digital Group snags Team of the Year Award for Data Center at SBR Management Excellence Awards
Over the past two years, the PDG team has overcome numerous challenges with limited resources and strived to maintain the highest level of operational excellence.
One of the leading developers and operators of Internet infrastructure, Princeton Digital Group (PDG)’s data centres power the expansion of hyperscalers and enterprises in the fastest-growing digital economies across Asia.
Headquartered in Singapore, the company believes in creating a sustainable digital future and plans to have all its data centres powered by renewable energy by 2030. It currently has 20 data centres in 14 centres across Singapore, China, India, Indonesia, and Japan.
Committed to cultivating and encouraging a collaborative and cohesive working culture, PDG prides itself on its SG1 operations team, which consists of a group of highly experienced local data centre experts backed by their experience in the global telecom, internet, cloud, and real estate sectors. In less than a year, the team was able to integrate workstreams that involved operational retraining and enhancing functional expertise, as well as the major reconstruction of SG1’s existing facilities. Afterwards, they shifted focus from operational readiness amongst the existing and newly acquired facilities to operational excellence at the group level.
Amidst building out the new whitespace data centre, the SG1 team achieved 100% service level standards for existing clients throughout the transition period whilst protecting the health and safety of staff during the COVID restrictions.
Because of the team’s ability to problem-solve and through their dedication, they were able to secure the market-leading M&O Stamp of Approval certification from the Uptime Institute, a global leader in data centre operation certifications in over 110 countries. This certification is regarded as the benchmark for an industry standard for design, construction, and ongoing operations.
This certification differentiates PDG’s value-add through best-in-class services, as many other mature data centre platforms are not qualified for it. In addition, the group also achieved two new international standard certifications: ISO 50001:2018 and SS564: Part 1:2020, which provide a framework for energy management and improving energy use.
Showcasing their proactiveness, the SG1 team also upgraded its existing HVAC systems to improve sustainability. This exercise included reprogramming SG1’s SMARDT chillers to boost efficiency, making changes to the cooling configuration, and adding optimisations to the air supply and fan speed. The condenser water supply was also adjusted.
Undoubtedly, these achievements are solid testaments to the outstanding performance of the SG1 team amidst global challenges.
The positive team dynamics are fostered through a robust sense of unity and grit, working in a "family-like" environment where everyone is in constant, strong communication in their quest for excellence.
By adopting a "customer first" culture, the team also works in close collaboration with customers to resolve any concerns and address issues, laying a strong foundation for building trust and achieving customer satisfaction.
With the group’s strong sense of unity and quest for excellence, they clinched the Team of the Year Award under the Data Center category at the Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards 2022.
In its eighth year, the Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards 2022 honour the country’s most outstanding business leaders, including trailblazing teams and individuals whose initiatives have resulted in substantial business gains for their company’s operations.
