Whiteways Systems recognized for commissioning a TV channel - incorporating the latest technology
Whiteways Systems Pte Ltd won the Broadcasting Award for commissioning a TV channel in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is rapidly emerging as a middle income country. The burgeoning population and the growing middle class is demanding to be served. Local consumer companies are encouraged to build brands and marketing reach by providing a premium platform for advertising on TV and Radio.
FMCG / Electronics companies in Bangladesh still rely on television for mass market advertisements despite the rapid increase of internet penetration similar to developed countries.
The client is a well established, large business group. The Client got a license to start a Television channel. They decided that the way to get the best proposal is to float an international tender. A notable number of companies were invited by the client to bid for the published tender, with Whiteways Systems being one of the bidders. Bidders from many other countries participated in this tender.
The tender included studios, control rooms, master control rooms, television graphics, virtual sets, routers, switches, and a host of other equipment.
Since this was a large, complicated tender involving studios, control rooms, master control rooms, satellite transmission, television graphics, virtual sets, routers, switchers, and a host of equipment, a detailed discussion was necessary.
Subsequently, the client had to be satisfied with lots of issues due to the complexity of the system. The technical department had concerns related to which technology will be provided, integration of the different types of equipment, and other similar issues.
While discussions were ongoing, a multistorey building located in the downtown area of Dhaka, Bangladesh was designated as the location for the TV station.
After more than a year of detailed discussion / meetings, the final negotiation led to Whiteways Systems winning the bid out of all the bidders who either pulled out or were unsuccessful in persuading the client.
The customer established letters of credit and Whiteways shipped the goods. Due to the large size of the project, several such shipments had to be made. Whiteways had to place the goods in 20-foot containers and ship the goods by sea to Chittagong port.
Company engineers immediately set out to the site to install servers for the data centre by laying cables, Racks, servers and other systems. Once the systems were tested and working, they were integrated to establish a proper workflow.
Back-ups were also installed to ensure continuous functioning in the system in case of equipment failure.
