Adventus Singapore Pte Ltd clinches SBR National Business Awards for IT services
Its Disaster Recovery Infrastructure-as-a-Service (DRaaS) system helped NOK corporation create a perfect recovery plan in the event of a disaster.
Data management is an important part of any business. It's not just a buzzword—it's a key factor in helping companies survive—and thrive—in the ever-changing business landscape.
However, storing voluminous data has its problems. Computers can crash at any second—and users can make mistakes at any given time. Having a good data recovery and backup system allows businesses to plan and recover important data when needed.
NOK Corporation (NOK) is the world's top oil seal product manufacturer and the longest established oil seal manufacturer in Japan. Since it was founded in 1939, the company has been producing a wide range of functional parts, such as oil seals, O-Rings, packings, and other synthetic rubber-based products. NOK is a comprehensive rubber component manufacturer and solutions provider.
To support the growing needs of the market, NOK has established facilities outside of Japan in the Asia-Oceania region, and in countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. With a large company manpower size of over 7,000 employees, huge amounts of important data are produced daily by the company.
NOK decided to work with Adventus to help manage their data. Adventus, which is an information and communications technology solutions and services provider previously worked with NOK in backing up their data both on-premise and on to the cloud. The results of the collaboration were excellent Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) for their data.
However, if a serious disaster were to happen—for instance, a fire that would destroy all their servers—the company would only be able to recover their data from the cloud but would not have the servers to run their applications.
Adventus alleviated this problem through its Disaster Recovery Infrastructure-as-a-Service (DRaaS). Focusing on helping companies gain a near-perfect disaster recovery infrastructure cost without sacrificing performance, it is a set of subscription-based, on-demand, shared, scalable and cloud-based computing and storage resources. It is built on the premise that the probability of a serious disaster happening to a company is low and the probability of a serious disaster happening to many companies at the same time is even lower.
The perfect disaster recovery plan would be to have the same amount of computing and storage resources at a secondary location that could take over in case of a disaster without the additional expenses to purchase computing and storage resources, rent out the facility to house the infrastructure, hire the manpower to maintain the infrastructure, and purchase the solutions for backup and failover.
NOK subscribed to Adventus DRaaS, and deployment was completed within the day. NOK's disaster recovery infrastructure was deployed immediately. Not only did it provide the company a disaster recovery infrastructure similar to the performance of the Primary Infrastructure, but it also allowed them to access it anywhere in the world and at significant cost savings.
