Allo Technology Sdn Bhd bags the Infrastructure Technology and Network, and Broadband awards at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards

Allo’s carrier network system intensifies Malaysia’s digital transformation through advanced connectivity services.

As more Malaysian households and businesses require high-quality internet connections, Allo Technology Sdn. Bhd. (Allo), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad has become an essential partner in providing the necessary infrastructure in bridging the digital gap in underserved areas. In recent years, Allo Carrier Network System (ACNS) has offered cellular tower fiberisation, data centre connectivity, and cross-border connectivity services which aims to expand fibre networks, improve broadband coverage and quality, and make the price of broadband competitive throughout the country.

ACNS has won the Malaysia Technology Excellence Award in the Infrastructure Technology and Network and Broadband – Telecommunications categories for its role in bringing the benefits of connectivity to the greater population of the country, making sure that no one is left behind as we progress towards becoming a digital nation.

ACNS capacity of 25.6 Tb of border-to-border connectivity uses state-of-the-art Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology, which makes possible fast and reliable data transmission, security, and seamless route protection. An advantage of Allo’s service is its open optical networking, which means operators and end customers can select their preferred technology from multiple vendors and obtain the best value in network deployment. Furthermore, ACNS supports optical technology advancements expected in the future.

Allo’s specific achievements are the following: (1) The completion of backbone network using the state of the art technology and future proofing its network with the ability to seamlessly upgrade to 800G capacity in the future; (2) The completion of transborder connection between Thailand’s border to Data Centres in Klang Valley to Neutral Data Centres in Singapore, namely Global Switch and Equinix 1; and (3) With open optical networking, the platform allows the operators and end customers to select their preferred technology from multiple vendors and obtain the best value in network deployment and optical technology advances expected in coming years.

In 2020, Allo partnered with several Retail Service Providers (RSPs) to expand home broadband connectivity in parts of Perak, Cyberjaya, and Melaka through its Open Access Network. Under the partnership, RSPs can leverage on the shared network by expanding their fibre footprints further at a lower cost while end-users at underserved areas can also enjoy broadband speeds up to 1Gbps. These plans provide stable access even when multiple devices are connected, making sure that individuals and families have enough broadband for activities such as video streaming, online entertainment, e-learning, virtual family meet-ups, work as well as gaming. These options are also particularly important at a time when many people are working from home and shopping on the Web, and numerous students are attending online classes. Moreover, by bringing its infrastructure to neighborhoods outside major cities, Allo intends to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas in Malaysia.

Thanks to Allo’s technologies, enterprises and other types of broadband users in Malaysia are able to keep up with the rapid digitalisation that comes with Industrial Revolution 4.0. Such infrastructure also prepares the country for further developments in other technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, Internet of Things, genetic engineering, and quantum computing. What makes Allo’s work more meaningful is that, beyond doing business and earning high revenues, the company is contributing towards Malaysia’s growth as a tech-savvy society with ultramodern capabilities.
