Browzwear receives SBR award for Enterprise Software - Apparel

With Browzwear, apparel companies are moving to true-to-life digital samples that hasten marketing, eliminate productivity barriers, and enhance sustainability.

The Technology Excellence Awards were launched to uncover winners whose main works were shaped by innovation, influence, success, and dynamism. In this spirit, Singapore Business Review awarded Browzwear the 2021 trophy in the Enterprise Software category for its work with activewear manufacturer Bodynits.

Founded in 1999, Browzwear is a pioneer of 3D apparel design, development, and merchandising solutions. They work hand-in-hand with designers and apparel companies of all sizes to drive the apparel industry’s much-needed digital transformation forward. Browzwear enables its customers to leverage the power of true-to-life 3D technology to build and customize automated digital workflows, immersive product experiences from design and development through to marketing, eCommerce, and production. With Browzwear, brands and retailers around the world are connecting people and processes, reducing iterations and samples, and merchandising garments even before they are produced.

Established in 1984, Bodynits is a leading global manufacturer of activewear for some of the world’s most influential brands. The company was attracted to Browzer's capabilities in pattern making. Its 3D design software, VStitcher, was equipped with libraries of tools and information for patternmakers to create, build and experiment with.

The pattern makers were soon utilising true-to-life 3D to analyse each component that made up the garment physically on its digital twin. This included the fit, draping, grading, and stress of the materials through features such as pressure and heat maps. 3D also allowed the pattern makers to be very specific throughout the creation process, precisely measuring and placing each component to their exact specification. As a result, patterns could be entirely drafted digitally and repurposed for future collections instead of starting from scratch and reinventing the patterns each time.

With Browzwear’s solution, the design team at Bodynit can essentially create a storyboard of the design journey for upcoming seasons and enable buyers to visualise all of the styles in different colourways. Moreover, they can view the exact cuts, seams, trims, detail placements, and fit of each garment without having to refer to a physical sample.

Whereas the sample approval process would typically involve numerous back and forths, the stakeholders involved can now effectively collaborate over accurate virtual garments worn by ultra-realistic avatars of the right size. This allows the approval process to be carried out at a much faster rate, with customer comments and feedback being implemented almost immediately for a more efficient decision-making process. The team has found that as little as two physical samples are needed before the garment can be sent to production.

As Bodynits’ digital transformation journey with Browzwear continues to evolve, the company is at a stage where they are no longer dependent on specialised talent since the entire creative process can be executed in one place, with each component stored and documented in digital libraries for consistent use.

The Technology Excellence Awards, presented by Singapore Business Review, was held via studio award presentations and video conferencing sessions throughout the second and third week of April.

This year’s nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Daryl Pereira, Head of Cyber at KPMG; Cheang Wai Keat, Partner, Consulting at Ernst & Young Advisory Pte. Ltd.; Henry Tan, Group Chief Executive Officer and Chief Innovation Officer at Nexia TS; Sivakumar Saravan, Senior Partner at Crowe Singapore; Cecil Su, Director, Head of Cybersecurity of BDO Singapore.
