FutuReady Asia Singapore wins Executive of the Year for Education at SBR Management Excellence Awards 2019

Founder and chairman urges health and emotional support for people with vulnerabilities.

Having survived depression and suicidal tendencies, A/P Delane Lim, the founder and chairman of FutuReady Asia Singapore, has devoted his talent and energy towards inspiring a “future-ready” generation through education and lifelong learning.

With an educational background in Business Administration and Human Capital Management and Training Development, Delane has spent 15 years training and coaching more than 800,000 people from different sectors of society, such as professionals, educators, social workers, entrepreneurs, public servants, and students.

His expertise lies not only in mental health and suicide prevention but also in character development, leadership, entrepreneurship, and even innovation and future disruptions.

FutuReady Asia’s vision is encapsulated in the phrase “forward thinkers today, leaders in action tomorrow.” It defines the organisation’s purpose to motivate young people, especially those who face mental health challenges, to focus on positive decisions and life-changing actions. The mission is “educating, equipping, and empowering lives for a better future.”

The organisation’s core values are turning knowledge into action, upholding the value of meanings, inclusivity, interplay of disciplines, being purpose-driven, and promoting basic humanity.

To achieve its objectives, FutuReady develops training curriculums, models and frameworks to nurture and prepare the future generations through experiential learning.
FutuReady Asia also prides itself as a tobacco-free learning organisation and was recognised as the first accredited professional member of Outdoor Learning & Adventure Education Association, an outstanding accolade that affirms their commitment and excellence in developing and delivering quality, purposeful and safe programmes for schools.

FutuReady also has a Focus Group Task Force that handles continuous professional development and community engagement for youth outreach initiatives. One of such programmes is the Asean Youth Community where youth leaders from ASEAN countries congregate to network, learn and service. Another dedicated team was also assigned to organise the annual Nelson Mandela International Day to keep the leader’s legacy alive through volunteering and community service activities in cooperation with schools.

A/P Lim also chairs the Youth Leaders’ Summit Organising Committee to come up with at least one local or international leadership conference annually, a platform where youth leaders from many countries can learn and collaborate with one another.

He also heads a consulting firm, Polygon Asia Consulting Enterprise under Formwerkz Holdings, an agency that provides corporate consultancy and advisory to SMEs/MNCs as well as training and development for organisations seeking professional development, improvement and productivity.

Aside from his latest award from SBR, Mr Lim has been conferred JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World 2019 Singapore Honouree for his contribution to children, world peace and human rights. He was previously recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 and featured as the Nominee of Generation GRIT 2018 by The Straits Times.

He has participated in international summits and overseas exchanges as Head of Mission, including the Spotlight Youth Experience in Hong Kong, Singapore-London Youth Exchange, Singapore-Africa Leadership Safari, and Singapore-Mexico Youth Delegation.

Since 2013, he has chaired the interfaith mentoring programme “Ignite Faiths” and organised SG50 Recollection Trail as part of Singapore’s 50th Celebration.

As a strong advocate to promote mental wellness and suicide prevention specialist, he launched HappYouth in 2014 to help young people cope with depression and build a supportive network amongst their family and friends. His most recent project is #MyDollarStory, a nationwide campaign that encourages young people to practice kindness towards others in a “pay it forward” manner by spending a dollar to help those in need.
