IDEMIA Wins Award for FinTech Payment Cards at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2021

The company received the accolade for Singapore’s first-ever LED enabled physical payment card.

IDEMIA, the global leader in Augmented Identity, has received the award for the Fintech Payment Cards category at the Singapore Business Review (SBR) Technology Excellence Awards 2021. The multinational company bagged the accolade for its work on the Razer Card – a collaboration between it and Singapore-based Razer Fintech that saw the two cooperatively working on an innovative product that leverages both IDEMIA’s capabilities, knowledge and expertise in payment card technology and Razer Fintech’s creativity and vision in realizing the future of payment solutions.

The Razer Card signifies another milestone in IDEMIA’s ambition to enable a secure and trusted environment for citizens and consumers and it supplements Razer Fintech’s own efforts to expand beyond its established B2C e-money services. The card lights up when it is used to make contactless payments at point-of-sale (POS) payment terminals, by harvesting the energy of the same POS when transactions are made – meaning that its operation does not rely on any batteries. The card also serves as a dual-payment card; it was launched as both a virtual and physical card that gives users a versatile payment option that can be accepted worldwide at any VISA acceptance point.

The premium card was one of the world’s first LED-enabled VISA cards. Through the application of IDEMIA’s proprietary technology and Razer Fintech’s creativity, it delivers a result that goes beyond the application of a simple LED bulb and allows for the card to light up to emanate Razer’s brand and image. The card’s launch was also a landmark achievement for both IDEMIA and Razer in the payment industry.

The Technology Excellence Awards, presented by Singapore Business Review, was held via studio award presentations and video conferencing sessions throughout the second and third week of April.

This year’s nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Daryl Pereira, Head of Cyber at KPMG; Cheang Wai Keat, Partner, Consulting at Ernst & Young Advisory Pte. Ltd.; Henry Tan, Group Chief Executive Officer and Chief Innovation Officer at Nexia TS; Sivakumar Saravan, Senior Partner at Crowe Singapore; Cecil Su, Director, Head of Cybersecurity of BDO Singapore.
