Lanotec Asia Pacific Pte Ltd takes home Marine and Offshore Engineering trophy in the Malaysia IBA
The firm was recognized for its environment friendly corrosion inhibitor and other Lanolin environmental solutions.
Lanotec Asia Pacific Pte Ltd has bagged the Marine and Offshore Engineering category in the recently concluded Malaysia International Business Awards, thanks to its environment friendly corrosion inhibitor and Lanolin environmental solutions.
The company produces a range of high-performance lanolin-based, biodegradable and environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors and lubricants, as well as industrial strength degreasers made from a blend of organic solvents and surfactants.
It was recognized for the development of Lanolin-based products, which are completely environmentally-friendly and safe to use in all marine applications. Lanolin is a natural, renewable resource providing protection for a vast array of metals against the effects of corrosion and other effects as a consequence of the impact of the harsh natural environment. It offers effortless application, resists wash-off, is biodegradable, non-flammable, and is classified as “Food Grade”.
Historically, the application of corrosion inhibitors has been costly from a labor perspective. Gaps, undetectable on the initial application, became exposed and where petrochemical-based products were used and these products can be harmful to the individual and the environment.
Recognizing these, the company developed the Lanotec Heavy Duty Liquid Lanolin or better known as HD, to address all the above deficiencies whilst providing technically proven corrosion protection at a cost far less than previously accepted methods. For this it was recognized in the Malaysia International Business Awards.
HD is said to be extremely versatile and efficient, produced from a renewable source. It is also a major contributor to the reduction of petrochemical consumables and maintenance costs whilst addressing Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) issues.
It contains an evaporative carrier used to liquefy the lanolin grease for ease of application and penetration. The carrier evaporates in approximately one hour at ambient temperature, leaving behind a microfilm (natural wax) of lanolin for corrosion protection and lubrication.
Furthermore, HD has penetration qualities whilst remaining as a barrier on the surface of the material being protected. The Lanolin is self-healing in nature by forming a natural bond with itself. If there is a separation by way of a scratch, the Lanolin will reform to re-establish the barrier to continue the protection.
Lanotec products, in particular HD, provide a barrier between metal and the atmosphere preventing oxidation and corrosion. This barrier is said to be especially effective against the effects of salts, acids, and fertilizers. HD is an Industrial Grade Corrosion Inhibitor, formulated to protect plant, equipment, structures and vehicles. HD is acid, salt, and moisture resistant and also resists high pressure wash-off, whilst not being detrimental to the environment.
Lanotec further notes that by using HD, companies may see a dramatic reduction in costs due to the ease of application and the ability to perform visual inspections of assets in storage, laid up drill pipes in marine, mining and agricultural equipment applications. The projected savings for drill pipe applications and inspections is in the vicinity of 85% which, when projected across the scale of inspections is very significant.
Lanotec products have been extensively tested by a number of third party entities with the result of a number of certification standards being met including; Global Green Tag, HACCP International, Australian Standards, NSF and Halal.
Natural, sustainable and effective.
