Novade Solutions obtains SBR Technology Excellence Award for Digital - Real Estate
Novade’s enterprise platform is adopted by the largest general contractors and real estate companies in the world.
Novade offers a digital platform that helps companies in the building and construction industry drive their digital transformation. With the Novade enterprise platform, on-site processes are digitised with mobile applications. The data captured in the field provide insights to streamline operations and improve quality, safety, and productivity.
As technological development moves increasingly fast in Asia and the rest of the world, Singapore Business Review (SBR) celebrates the achievements of enterprises that have contributed to this progress. In the SBR Technology Excellence Awards (TEA) 2019, uniqueness and innovation, effectiveness and impact, and dynamism are the criteria used to determine the winning products, services, or strategies of the nominated firms.
This year, one of the winners is Novade Solutions Pte. Ltd., a company that believes in digitisation as a means to “help improve productivity, quality, and safety” in construction sites. For Novade, this issue concerns not only businesses but society as a whole because productivity enables the construction of affordable homes and infrastructure, whilst high-quality buildings improve people’s lives. The company is being honoured for its Novade Platform, which applies automated processes to ensure the safety and efficiency of construction sites. The platform is now used by leading industry players, such as contractors, real estate developers, and engineering service providers, to keep a record of all site processes and workflows.
The platform allows users to gather data, which they can use as a reference to streamline their operations. An important feature of the Novade platform is its integrated approach to digitisation from the beginning to the end of a project, instead of focusing on only one aspect. The mobile (Android and iOS) and desktop application has online and offline functionalities that are useful, for instance, in digitising paper processes, gathering real-time information from sites, and updating the information instantly so that team members know the latest project status and can address any defect immediately. Monitoring workers’ attendance and preparing payroll reports are also simplified. Thus, operations are well organised and productivity is improved. Modules on the platform include Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Workforce, Activity, and Logistics.
So far, the platform has been deployed on various project types in 16 countries. Novade has more than 200 enterprise clients and more than 50,000 users globally. Furthermore, the app has been used to process over 20 million records, which is equivalent to a large amount of paper saved. One of Novade’s satisfied clients is Tiong Seng Construction. According to Lian Guan Pek, CEO of Tiong Seng, "With the adoption of Novade, we are able to get the information on defect checkings, quality checkings - in real time, and every day we will be able to take appropriate actions for the following day, and that improves our productivity."
“We find that the Novade platform is flexible with regard to being customisable to civil engineering. I believe that with technology, we can improve on the site safety without heavily relying on the individuals. The widespread use of technology in the construction industry will definitely improve the workflow, productivity, and more importantly, the site safety,” says Alan Nah, Executive Director for Projects of Hwa Seng Builder.
Muhd Khalil Shaiful Bahari, Building Information Modelling (BIM) Manager of Bousted Projects, describes the advantages of Novade: “After we have done our BIM coordination meetings, all the BIM models are integrated into the Novade solution with a direct lock-in with our current BIM authoring software. Novade is quite useful because it not only integrates the BIM model but also the interface that allows us to track some information that previously we were not aware. We have many work processes which are not cookie-cutter, so we need to customise them to individual needs of individual scope, because ultimately we are looking at delivering good-quality projects on time.”
Due to such a valuable product, Novade has already established a global presence despite being only five years old. The company aims to deliver its one-stop-shop model of technological innovation to a larger clientele in China, Japan, and Europe.
