Strato Solutions Sdn Bhd clinched win at SBR Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards
The company won in the Digital - Utilities category at the inaugural event.
Strato Solutions Sdn Bhd implemented a new mobile work management system for leading utilities company, bolstering operational efficiency and bringing the electricity company one step closer to a truly mobility-enabled workforce.
Specifically, the Malaysian technology and business consulting firm rolled out a “mobility for distribution substation maintenance system” or MSMS, and the company said this key initiative has been instrumental in automating company’s asset management and maintenance system.
“Since the inception of this new system, MSMS has helped our organization to improve the operational efficiency of our workforce for our asset maintenance activities in all the substations in Malaysia,” said a company Mobility project manager, citing how the business automation process is expected to lead to 25% annual savings per year in reporting man-days due to reduced manual report generation.
“The system's mobility feature has enabled our process to be simplified and digitised through a secured cloud repository platform. Our workers no longer need to be constrained with paperworks and be office-bound to be connected to the system. This is in line with our organization's goal to create a digital and efficient workforce while maintaining the asset integrity,” the company Mobility project manager added.
Strato Solutions’ effective use of technology to solve the challenges of utilities enabled the company to win at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards, presented by Singapore Business Review, which honours enterprises that take risks and lead the charge in developing leading-edge products, services, and strategies. Key criteria for the awards include uniqueness and innovation, effectiveness and impact, and dynamism.
Strato Solutions approached the utilities company project with increasing productivity and efficiency while minimising disruption. The consulting firm implemented IBM's Maximo Enterprise Asset Management application and its mobility component, with a lot of effort put into integrating it into existing systems such as SAP-based ERMS. Solution components included Maximo for Utilities, Anywhere, Scheduler & HSE.
The new system is designed to guarantee an accurate flow of information between managers and field users, as well as allow field users to access and update information in a single interface.
Managers, meanwhile, are equipped with a more robust suite of planning, monitoring and reporting tools. In particular, real-time data synchronisation between Maximo Anywhere and Maximo Server enables tracking and coordinating maintenance work and report progress updates to maintenance supervisor and managers, according to their authorisation and access control.
The latest accolade for Strato Solutions Sdn Bhd comes as the technology and business consulting firm continues to expand internationally. To date, it has successfully implemented 24 projects across 21 clients, having expanded from Malaysia to Indonesia and UK. Their latest venture includes IoT offerings in the oil and Gas and Public Safety domain where they have implemented 2 pilot projects for the National Oil & Gas Company and State Government in Malaysia.
