Vertiv wins awards at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2021 and Singapore Business Review International Business Awards 2021

Vertiv won the Infrastructure Technology- Internet/New Media and Data Centre Awards at MTEA and SBR IBA, respectively.

The leading broadband services provider in Malaysia approached Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, to help them assess their power infrastructure when they needed to expand the capacity of their upstream connection bandwidth with the international internet gateway.

With the new server room located on the building's second floor, it would be difficult to use traditional 48V DC power equipment, due to cabling concerns and the possibility of a high voltage drop, since the power room is situated on the ground floor, around 50-metres from the server room. The server room was also small, with limited area for additional equipment.

Looking for a cost-effective yet high-efficiency power solution to support their client's capacity expansion whilst addressing infrastructure challenges, both parties decided to proceed with the 400V Netsure™ HVDC, a compact, high-voltage direct current system that is ideal for high density applications. The installation was the first deployment in the South East Asia region.

The expanded capacity and additional power infrastructure comes with more heat in the small space. With minimal space to place in the IT equipment, there was only a small area for additional air conditioning.

Knowing the benefits of precision air conditioning over comfort air conditioning, Vertiv's Liebert® SRC wall-mounted system was chosen to meet the cooling demand. The wall-mounted Liebert SRC offers an ideal environment for sensitive electronics, with virtually zero footprint.

Vertiv's HVDC solution provided significant energy savings of up to 80% compared to traditional 48V equipment. The system design also helped the client reduce their cabling and installation costs.

The modern and effective approach of using Vertiv's DC power and cooling solutions to allow the client to expand the capacity of their upstream connection bandwidth showcases their versatility in creating solutions to support growth of a reliable and secure internet. With these accomplishments on hand, Singapore Business Review awards them the Infrastructure Technology - Internet/New Media award at the recently concluded Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2021.
