Change is the only constant in the online travel business world: TripAdvisor's Priyanka Gargav
What does it take to be successful in the online hospitality industry?
Priyanka Gargav is TripAdvisor’s Senior Regional Manager for Hotel Chains in Asia Pacific. Based in the company’s regional headquarters in Singapore, she is responsible for click-based advertising for large hotel chains in Asia, as well as managing partnerships in Asia for TripAdvisor’s newly-launched Instant Booking feature. Prior to her current role, Priyanka managed click-based advertising for the region’s OTAs.
Priyanka will be speaking at the SBR Industry Insights Series happening on November 17-18, 2015. Here's more about her:
SBR: How have your previous work experiences (or personal, if any) contributed to how you view our business today?
The online travel business world is a fast-moving, ever-changing one and this means you need to constantly be adapting yourself professionally. I have personally witnessed this pace: I was working for Travelocity in India when they acquired Travelguru, then I joined TripAdvisor which had just spun off from Expedia – and now Expedia has acquired Travelocity.
Meanwhile, in the span of three short years, our business at TripAdvisor has evolved from pop-up windows to Meta, and now to Instant Booking. Change truly is the only constant which is why TripAdvisor’s philosophy of “Speed Wins” is probably the best way to describe what is required of all who work in this business.
SBR: Do you have a personal philosophy that you apply at work – and if you do, what would that be?
“What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” – I ask myself this question often and it pushes me to come up with creative solutions for the challenges that I face and makes me push the boundaries with what I do. I also like asking this question to others and I am often surprised by what they come back with.
SBR: Can you give us a glimpse of what you will talk about at the SBR Industry Insights Series?
Embracing Change through Innovation, within which she will share some insights about the industry and what it takes to be successful in the online hospitality business.
