Tonio Buonassisi
Professor Tonio Buonassisi is a Principal Investigator at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), MIT’s Research Enterprise in Singapore, where he leads and collaborates with Singapore-based researchers and manufacturers. He is also a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MIT, granted tenure for his outstanding contributions to solar energy research.
He founded the Accelerated Materials Development Programme at A*STAR with NUS and NTU and founded the MIT PVLab. His work and research, benefitting both companies and the public, have earned him a US Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists & Engineers (PECASE) in 2016 from President Obama, a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, a Google Faculty Award, the prestigious Everett Moore Baker Award — the only MIT teaching award selected by undergraduates.
