Indonesia's GDP growth rose 5.07% to US$951m in 2017
This was driven by the information and communication industry.
Indonesia’s Central Statistics Office reported that the country’s GDP increased to 5.07% YoY to an estimated US$951m in 2017, from 5.03% YoY to US$868m in the previous year.
The information and communication industry drove the GDP growth, rising from 8.88% in 2016 to 9.81% in 2017. Business activities also grew by 8.44%, whilst the transportation and storage industry increased from 7.45% to 8.49%.
In terms of expenditures, LNPRT consumption topped the list, with a growth rate of 6.91%.
Further, exports increased by 9.09%, whilst imports rose by 8.06%.
GDP per capita also rose from US$3,605.1 in 2016 to US$3,876.8 in 2017.
