Malaysia's core inflation rose 2.6% in July
The country's CPI also hiked up by 3.2%.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) reported a 2.6% YoY rise in core inflation for the country in July.
Amongst the major groups which influenced the higher core rate were price increases of Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 4.4%, Transport at 3.3%, Health at 2.9%, Recreation Services & Culture at 2.6%, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Other Fuels at 2.6% and Furnishings, Household Equipment & Routine Household Maintenance at 2.6%.
Consumer Price Index (CPI), meanwhile, rose by 3.2% YoY. This was 0.4ppt lower than 3.6% in June.
Amongst the major groups with increases were indices for Transport at 7.7%, Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 4.2%, Health at 2.9%, Recreation Services & Culture at 2.6%, Restaurants and Hotels at 2.6%, and Furnishing, Household Equipment & Routine Household Maintenance at 2.6%.
