What will happen when Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) ends?
The government will extend remote work, the job support scheme, as restrictions are gradually eased.
Singapore is set to exit Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) (P2(HA)) next week, but it won’t be lifted all at once.
In a press briefing, Finance Minister Lawrence Wong said Singapore won’t go to a full Phase 3 yet.
“It is not quite the full Phase 3. We call this Phase 3 (Heightened Alert) because there are still these restrictions in place,” Wong said.
The exit from P2(HA) will be done in two stages.
Starting June 14, Monday, the size of social group gatherings will be increased to five persons from two persons. Five is also the number of distinct visitors allowed per household per day. The capacity for venues like attractions, museums and public libraries will be increased back to 50% from the previous 25% during the heightened alert period.
Size limits for MICE, sporting events cinemas, congregational services, and marriages will be increased to 50 attendees without pre-event testing, or up to 250 attendees with pre-event testing.
Businesses such as event photography and facial services can also resume operations.
On June 21, dining-in at food and beverage outlets and establishments can resume, with a maximum group size of five. Gyms, fitness studios, in-person tuition and enrichment classes and similar higher risk mask-off businesses can resume operations.
Work from home, however, would still be the default work requirement for the coming weeks.
The job support scheme will also be extended to cover some businesses that will be unable to reopen during the transition period.
“Some businesses will be effectively closed for another week, because of this two-stage reopening process. So we will continue to extend the Jobs Support Scheme to them during this period,” Wong said.
