Singapore expands levy concession for foreign domestic workers
This will benefit an estimate of 1,000 employers.
The employers of foreign domestic workers (FDW) can now enjoy levy concession if they are employed to care for a member of their extended family or friend whom they live together with, according to a press release.
Previously, levy concession is only given if their FDW cares for an immediate family member in the same household. It will continue to be granted for only one FDW per eligible person and capped at two per household.
The said relative or friend must be a Singapore citizen who is either younger than 16 or at least 67 years old, or a person with disabilities to qualify.
Those who pass this criteria, which is estimated to be at around 1,000 employers, can submit an online application starting 01 September.
"Beyond caring for the immediate family members, MOM recognises that Singaporeans are also caring for members of their extended family or friend who lives in the same household," MOM wrote in a statement.
