About 1.2 million Singaporean household to get $120m

The Household Utilities Credit will be distributed by September 2022. 

About 1.2 million Singaporean households will each be entitled to a one-off $100 Households Utilities Credit (HUC) by September 2022, the Ministry of Finance announced. 

The $100 HUC may be availed by all households with at least one Singaporean citizen. The $120m benefit forms part of the $1.5b package intended to help Singaporean amidst the inflation. 

“The HUC is applicable to offset SP Group charges,” the MoF noted. “Households which are billed separately for their electricity charges by electricity retailers can use the credit for their other non-electricity SP Group charges, such as water, gas and refuse disposal.”

The HUC is on top of the GST Voucher – U-Save scheme already in place that benefits some 950,000 HDB Households. 

According to MoF, HDB households will receive double their regular U-Save in 2022 through the regular GSTV scheme and Household Support Package announced at Budget 2022. 

Households in 4-room HDB flats will receive a total of about five months’ worth of rebates on their utility bills for 2022, whilst those in 3-room HDB flats will receive about seven months’ worth of rebates.
