Asia's ultra rich men willing to give away 9% of their wealth for charity
Donations from people with more than $100M rose by 10% in 2011, with giving increasing most in North America and Asia Pacific.
According to the results of HNWIs Attitudes Survey by Knight Frank and Citi Private Bank, global economic uncertainty hasn’t dampened the philanthropic activities of HNWIs. Donations from North America's HNWIs rose by 40% while that of Asia grew by 33%,
Here's the chart from the Wealth Report 2012:
Josh Spero, editor of wealth chronicle Spear’s, which has just launched a campaign to “spread the pleasure” of giving amongst the wealthiest 1%, says the interest in philanthropy from the magazine’s HNW readership continues to grow.
"Many donors appreciate that their activities are even more vital during difficult times," he explains.
Others, he reckons, also see it as a way to help epair the “reputation” of the wealth community, which
su¶ered during the fallout from the banking crisis.
