Chart of the Day: Elderly to account for a fourth of Singapore's population by 2030
This will boost domestic patient volumes.
This chart from Maybank Kim Eng with data from the Singapore Population White Paper showed that those aged 65 and above in the country will soon make up 25% of the total population by 2030 from 15% in 2015.
Maybank KE foresees aging populations and rising incidences of chronic diseases and overstretched public healthcare that could support the domestic patient volumes in Singapore and Malaysia.
The report also noted that the ageing population in Malaysia and China will rise to comprise 25% and 11% of the respective countries’ population by 2030.
