
Chart of the Day: NODX up 3.9% in 2Q
Thanks to higher shipments of both electronic and non-electronic NODX.
International Enterprise Singapore reported:
On a y-o-y basis, NODX grew by 3.9 per cent in 2Q 2012, following the previous quarter’s increase of 6.1 per cent, on higher shipments of both electronic and non-electronic NODX.
Electronic domestic exports increased by 2.2 per cent in 2Q 2012, after the previous quarter’s 3.5 per cent expansion. Non-electronic NODX rose by 4.8 per cent in 2Q 2012, following the 7.4 per cent growth in the previous quarter.
On a q-o-q SA basis, non-oil domestic exports (NODX) decreased by 3.3 per cent in 2Q 2012, reversing the previous quarter’s expansion of 8.6 per cent.
While NODX to the US and China decreased y-o-y, NODX to all the rest of the top markets expanded in 2Q 2012. The biggest contributors to the y-o-y NODX increase in the quarter were Hong Kong, Indonesia and South Korea.
Specifically, NODX to Hong Kong expanded by 30 per cent in 2Q 2012, following the previous quarter’s increase of 19 per cent. NODX to Indonesia rose by 18 per cent in 2Q 2012, after the preceding quarter’s increase of 4.0 per cent. NODX to South Korea expanded by 20 per cent, following the 37 per cent growth in the previous quarter.
