Unemployment in Singapore remains at minimum levels, as the services sector continues to keep most Singaporeans employed.
Total employment stood at 3,549,900 in June, up 3.8% from last year. According to a report by OCBC, services contributed the bulk job growth in 2Q, accounting for 91% of the 27,700 jobs created, especially in community, social and personal services where 5,800 jobs were created.
Administrative and support services and professional services followed close, with 5,300 and 4,000 jobs created respectively. Construction added 4,400 jobs whereas manufacturing shed 2,100 jobs.
