The government says the current downturn will not be as bad as 2008, but how much budget deficit can we expect?
According to Su Sian Lim of RBSM, the fiscal position for FY11 (ending March 2012) could turn out better than expected. “After taking into account the projected primary surplus, special transfers and net investment contributions, the government last February penciled in a balanced overall budget of SGD 0.08bn.”
