
Chart of the Day: Is there hope for electronic products exports?
It contracted 6.6% in September.
Singapore trade has continually been badgered by lower exports in the electronic segments, which posted its 7th month of contraction in September with a 6.6% decline.
According to the latest figures by International Enterprise Singapore, the electronic exports further sank into the red after it recorded a 6% dip in August.
"The decrease in electronic domestic exports was largely due to integrated circuits (-6.3%), disk drives (-55.0%) and parts of PCs (-22.4%)," IE said.
The sector started its losing streak in March, where it fell at around the same pace it did in September. It slightly gained traction in June but fell again in July.
The overall electronic exports during the said month month has pulled Singapore's total exports down, falling 4.8% compared to a flat growth registered in the previous month.
