Chart of the Day: Wealth per adult rose to US$268,780 in mid-2017

Thanks to high savings and asset price increases.

This chart from Credit Suisse shows Singapore's wealth per adult rose to US$268,780 in mid-2017.

It significantly rose from the US$115,560 in 2000.

The bank said the rise was mostly caused by high savings, asset price increases, and rising exchange rate from 2005 to 2012.

Singapore ranked ninth globally in terms of household wealth per adult.

Average annual growth rate between 2000 and 2017 hit 5.1%. This conformed with higher GDP per capita growth over the same period.
