Children aged 0-6 to receive $200 in their Child Development Account
Around 230,000 children are expected to benefit.
All Singaporean children aged 0 to 6 years in 2022 will receive a one-off top-up of S$200 to their Child Development Account or CDA.
An estimated 230,000 children are expected to benefit from the top-up, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Social Development and Family said in a joint release.
The $200 will be credited directly into the child’s CDA in batches from 8 September 2022 or after the CDA is opened, whichever is later.
Parents who have yet to open a CDA will need to do so by 30 June 2023 for their children to be eligible for the top-up.
CDA trustees will be notified via SMS, email or hardcopy letter, after the CDA top-ups have been credited. To guard against scams, SMS notifications sent to CDA trustees would only be from SMS ID “MSF”, the press release reminded. It will also only contain information on the status of the top-up after it has been credited into the child’s CDA.
The CDA top-up is part of the Household Support Package (HSP) announced at Budget 2022 with the goal of providing families with additional support for their child-raising expenses. Singaporean children aged 7 to 20 years this year would have received a one-off $200 top-up to their Edusave account or Post-Secondary Education Account in May 2022.
Children aged 7 to 20 years old received a $200 top-up to their Edusave account of Post-Secondary Education Account earlier in May.
