Consumer confidence lags regional peers despite uptick in H2: survey

Singapore ranks fifth out of seven markets.

Singaporean consumers were slightly more upbeat in the second half, according to MasterCard's latest Consumer Confidence Index.

Singapore's consumer confidence reached 65.3 points in 2H, an increase of 4.4 index points compared to six months ago.

Overall consumer confidence lifted because of increase in four out of five indicators – economy, regular income, stock market, quality of life.

Despite the uptick, Singapore still lags regional peers in terms of consumer confidence.

In Southeast Asia, Singapore ranks fifth out of the seven markets surveyed for consumer confidence. Singapore's consumer confidence is also below the Southeast Asian average of 71 index points.
