Once you have money in your CPF, it will automatically start earning interests for you.

The CPF is split into three accounts: Ordinary Account (OA), Special Account (SA) and Medisave. The base interest rate for your OA is 2.5%, and 4% for the SA and Medisave each. On top of that, you are entitled to an additional 1% interest for the first S$60,000 in your entire CPF account (with up to S$20,000 from the OA).

It was first introduced in 1993 and over US$4 trillion have already been invested in various ETFs. An ETF’s main advantage lies in its low cost structure, broad diversification, and its liquidity and ease of purchasing and selling. In fact, it is similar to a stock listed on any globally recognised stock exchanges.

There are multiple types of ETFs, including index ETFs, stock ETFs, Bond ETFs and Commodity ETFs. For example index ETF is an investment fund that tracks a specified index maintained by licensed index providers such as S&P or MSCI.

About 880,000 households living in HDB flats here will get the next instalment of the GST Voucher – Utilities-Save (U-Save) rebate this month, announced the Ministry on Finance on Monday (2 October).

Depending on the flat type, each qualified Singaporean household will receive a rebate of between $55 and $95 in October 2017. Including the rebates to be handed out in January and April 2018, the total annual rebates will reach $220 to $380.

Expected to cost $265 million annually starting from July 2017, the quarterly U-Save rebate helps HDB households offset part of their utility bills, effectively reducing overall household expenses. It is one of the three components under the government’s permanent GST Voucher scheme.
