Electronic NODX failed to break losing streak on weak PC segment
It's a 21-month old drought.
Electronic NODX shows no sign of recovery as it continues its downward trajectory in April contracting 8.7%. According to UOB Economic-Treasury Research, electronic NODX decline for the 21st consecutive month, worse than consensus expectations of a 7.5% y/y contraction, due to weak performance from PC-related product groups such as PCs (-32.5% y/y), disk drives (-35.4%), and ICs (-5.3%).
Here's more:
With continued weakness in Singapore’s electronic NODX, the average share of electronic products to overall NODX in the first 4 months of 2014 fell to 28.5%, the lowest in our records. In comparison, just 10 years ago, slightly more than half (50.6%) of NODX were electronics-related. We do not see this negatively as it shows that Singapore’s NODX is increasingly being diversified to other product groupings as the economy undergoes economic restructuring.
