Meet the leaders of Forward Singapore
Several ministers will help review and refresh the market’s social compact.
As the government seeks to refresh and review the social compact in the Lion City, several Cabinet executives will take charge of fulfilling Forward Singapore’s goals for all members of society.
The 4G leadership will head Forward Singapore by coordinating with residents to ensure equal opportunities for all, steward shared resources, and foster a greater sense of shared ownership and responsibility.
The 4G leadership will help the overall head of Forward Singapore, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Lawrence Wong. Each leader will oversee the six pillars under Forward Singapore.
For the empower pillar, Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng, Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng, and Senior Minister of State Koh Poh Koon will focus on the economy and jobs. They will help “empower every Singaporean to have lifelong employability in a more competitive economy amidst an uncertain world.”
Under the equip pillar, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Manpower Zaqy Mohamad, and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of National Development Tan Kiat How will provide Singaporeans education and lifelong learning.
The care pillar, which enables health and social support, will be led by Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli, and Indranee Rajah, who is minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and second minister for Finance and National Development.
To enhance Singaporean’s living environment, leaders of build pillar are Desmond Lee, who is Minister for National Development and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration, S Iswaran, who is Minister for Transport and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, Josephine Teo, who is Minister for Communications and Information and Second Minister for Home Affairs, and Sim Ann, who is Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of National Development.
As for the steward pillar, which offers environmental and fiscal sustainability, the leads are Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu, Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin, and Senior Minister of State Chee Hong Tat.
The unite pillar, which allows commitment to citizenship, tapped as leaders are Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth, and Second Minister for Law Edwin Tong, Minister of Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education and Foreign Affairs Maliki Osman, and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Health Janil Puthucheary.
Wong had launched Forward Singapore and called on business leaders, unionists and other Singaporeans to help support the strengthening of social compact, which ensures equal opportunities for all.
