Minister for Sustainability Grace Fu to join G20 joint environment, climate meeting
It is the first time for the G20 to convene a ministerial-level meeting.
To represent Singapore, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu will attend the G20 Joint Environment and Climate Ministers’ Meeting in Bali, Indonesia from 30 August to 2 September 2022.
The G20 refers to the strategic multilateral platform that links the world’s major developed and emerging economies
In a statement, the government said it is the first time for G20 to convene a ministerial-level meeting to discuss “environment and climate sectors, and their interlinkages.”
Singapore was invited as a guest country by Indonesia, which will host the G20 meeting this year.
At the meeting, the ministers will discuss the adoption of a G20 Joint Environment and Climate Communique to boost the group’s commitment for a more inclusive and sustainable global recovery, and to improve and mobilise efforts to achieve collective environmental and climate objectives.
These discussions and outcomes will also be revealed in the G20 Leaders’ Summit, which will be held in Bali, Indonesia from 15 to 16 November 2022.
