MOF to distribute additional $900m under Jobs Support Scheme
Approximately 570,000 employees will be covered by the scheme.
Over $900m is expected to be distributed under the Jobs Support Scheme (JSS), the Ministry of Finance (MOF) announced.
This will take effect from 30 September and will be in the form of JSS payouts throughout 570,000 local employees. Employers who have made mandatory CPF contributions for their local employees for the months of April to July 2021 will qualify for the payouts.
The payout will cover wages from April to July 2021 and also includes the enhanced JSS payout during the Phase 2 and Phase 3 periods.
Employers who have registered for PayNow Corporate as of 24 September 2021 or have existing General Interbank Recurring Order or GIRO arrangements with Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) can have the JSS payouts from 30 September. Others will have their cheques by 15 October 2021.
Five hundred employers, however, will have about $23m in payouts withheld. A review and submission of supporting documents to IRAS will be done to substantiate their eligibility. Overall, these employers account for 1.1% of all qualifying employers for payouts.
