Guess which countries caused the exports setback.
International Enterprise (IE) Singapore reported:
On a y-o-y basis, NODX contracted by 1.1 per cent in 3Q 2011 after growing by 1.9 per cent in the previous quarter, on lower shipments of electronic NODX which outweighed the rise in non-electronic NODX. Electronic domestic exports decreased by 17 per cent in 3Q 2011, following the previous quarter’s 14 per cent decline. Non-electronic NODX rose by 8.3 per cent in 3Q 2011, following the 12 per cent expansion in the previous quarter. On a q-o-q SA basis, NODX declined marginally by 1.6 per cent in 3Q 2011, following the 2.1 per cent contraction in 2Q 2011, on lower shipments of both electronic and non-electronic NODX. Electronic domestic exports decreased on q-o-q SA basis by 1.9 per cent in 3Q 2011, in contrast to the previous quarter’s 2.4 per cent contraction. Non-electronic NODX declined by 1.2 per cent in 3Q 2011, following the marginal 0.2 per cent decrease in the previous quarter. While NODX to China, Thailand, Japan and Indonesia rose, the contraction in 3Q 2011 was largely contributed by the US, Hong Kong and the EU 27. In particular, NODX to the US declined by 22 per cent in 3Q 2011, following the previous quarter’s contraction of 2.4 per cent. NODX to Hong Kong contracted by 11 per cent in 3Q 2011, in contrast to the 19 per cent decline in 2Q 2011. NODX to the EU 27 decreased by 5.4 per cent in 3Q 2011, after the 8.5 per cent increase in 2Q 2011. |
