Non-oil domestic exports slip 0.8% in July
Exports to most key markets fell.
Singapore’s non-oil domestic exports declined 0.8% year-on-year in July, compared to the 4.5% expansion in the previous month.
According to IE Singapore, the contraction was on back of lower non-electronic shipments and a decline in exports to most key markets.
NODX to all of the top 10 NODX markets, except Hong Kong, South Korea and Thailand, declined during the month, with Japan, Taiwan and China being the top contributors to the NODX contraction.
A 2.1% decrease in non-electronic NODX which outweighed the 2.3% rise in electronic NODX. The contraction in non-electronic NODX was led by structures of ships & boats. which fell by 98.3%, printed matter, down 51.8% and primary chemicals, which slipped 22.1%.
Electronic exports grew largely due to higher exports of PCs, telecommunications equipment, and diodes and transistors.
