SG Budget 2022 to focus on strengthening post-pandemic economy
Minister Lawrence Wong also acknowledged the difficulties faced by sectors.
Re-positioning Singapore’s position in a post-COVID world is the main focus of the Lion City’s budget in 2022, according to a speech given by Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong.
Wong said that there will be a creation of more opportunities for all Singaporeans and the transformation of the economy.
He also reiterated support for sectors that continue to face difficulties and immediate concerns of Singaporean citizens, such as the cost of living. Greener initiatives were also announced as one of the goals.
"This year, we are experiencing the Omicron wave. The daily infected cases are higher than before. But fortunately, the vast majority of vaccinated persons only have mild symptoms. So, we will do our best to ride through this Omicron wave without having to tighten our existing measures."
