SG, China ink MOUs on digital economy and green development
The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the WTO 12th Ministerial Conference.
Singapore and China have joined hands to promote cooperation in green development and enhance cooperation in the digital economy.
The Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for the projects were signed by Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong and People’s Republic of China’s Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao on the sidelines of the WTO 12th Ministerial Conference.
Under the Green Development MOU, SG and China will share policies and cooperate in areas such as renewable energy, green building, green finance, and water and waste management.
The two countries will also encourage businesses to carry out joint research and development activities, and jointly promote low-carbon technological innovations.
The Digital Economy MOU, on the other hand, will allow the two countries to enhance cooperation in investment cooperation and digital trade. SG and China will also share best practices on digital economy regulations and policies, enable digitally-enabled services, and establish a trusted and secure digital environment.
“The signing of the two MOUs not only signifies Singapore and China’s commitment to broaden and deepen our bilateral cooperation but also provides new impetus for our countries to explore new areas of cooperation in the digital economy and green economy that can address shared policy priorities and business interests,” Minister Gan said.
