
Singapore companies splurged US$1.43b on Japanese investments in 2014
Direct investment between Singapore and Japan surged last year.
Singaporean companies invested a staggering US$1.43b in Japan in 2014, an over four-fold increase compared to just US$325m in 2013.
According to data from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Singapore remains the largest source of inward foreign direct investment (FDI) into Japan among ASEAN countries.
Japanese companies have also pumped plenty of capital into the city-state, with outbound FDI to Singapore hitting US$7.5b in 2014.
This represents the highest amount of Japanese investment into Singapore on record, and dwarfs last year's figure of US$3.54b.
