Singapore 'easing off slightly on the brakes' of restrictions

The multi-ministry task force said the COVID situation in the country has stabilised.

Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said the country is "easing off slightly on the bicycle brakes" of their restrictions since Singapore has seen a less than one ratio of week-on-week COVID infection growth.

Finance Minister Lawrence Wong announced that from 10 November, food and beverage (F&B) establishments will allow up to five fully vaccinated persons from the same household to dine in together, and two persons if not.

F&B establishments will implement the new ruling of checking the vaccination status of diners before they are seated.

The concession will not apply to hawker centres and coffee shops because the venues do not have the measures to check all diners.

Second, Wong said the Ministry of Education will resume more activities in our schools and institutions of higher learning. Activities include in-person classes, group work and co-curricular activities.

Lastly, Singapore will pilot the resumption of activities with the application of Vaccination-Differentiated Safe Management Measures, in which only vaccinated persons are allowed in some settings or events. If not vaccinated, persons will need to get tested and vaccinated first. The safety measure will begin with sports activities.
