Singapore exports slipped 8.4% in August
Exports to top markets declined.
Singapore's non-oil domestic exports (NODX) extended its decline in August, booking an 8.4% year-on-year contraction after a 0.7% slip in July.
A report released by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore showed that exports to all of the top 10 NODX markets, except the US, Thailand and Hong Kong, declined last month.
The top contributors to the NODX contraction in August were Taiwan, South Korea and China.
On a year-on-year basis, electronic NODX declined by 2.7% in August, reversing the 2.5% increase in the previous month.
Meanwhile, non-electronic exports decreased by 10.6% in August, extending the 2.0% decline in the previous month.
