Singapore’s revised green goal: Achieve net zero emissions by 2050
It seeks to cut emissions to about 60 million tonnes of carbon dioxide in 2030.
Singapore revealed that it will raise its green target to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, adding that it will cut emission to around 60 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2030 after peaking emissions earlier.
“This revision to Singapore’s national climate target builds upon our current LEDS and NDCs, as well as Singapore’s early actions towards sustainable development since independence,” read the government’s media release.

To lead the decarbonisation targets, the public sector will vow to achieve net zero emissions around 2045 under the GreenGov.SG initiative.
“This will be contingent on the progress of technologies and international cooperation to enable mitigation measures,” read the statement.
The Jurong Lake District had also announced plans to achieve net zero emissions around 2045.
The revised targets were attributed to the Budget 2022’s intention to raise efforts to combat the climate crisis.
