Singtel tops 2023 governance and transparency index
The National University of Singapore conducted the study.
Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) topped the Singapore Governance and Transparency Index general category this year, with an overall score of 120.
At the NUS study, Singtel, which provides 5G tech, advanced from the third spot in 2022 to 2021.
DBS and SATS tied at second place with a overall score of 119. SATS was first place last year with a score of 122.
Next is UOB with 116 followed by SGX and City Developments Limited with both scoring 115.
Under the REITs and business trust category, CapitaLand Ascott Trust dominated the rankings with 112.1 score followed by Far East Hospitality Trust with 110.5.
CapitaLand Ascendas Reit was third place with 109.6, then CapitaLand India Trust with 106.9. Tied at fifth place are CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust and NetLink NBN Trust with 106.5.
The SGTI base score contains five domains: board responsibilities (35 points), rights of shareholders (20 points), engagement of stakeholders (10 points), accountability and audit (10 points), and disclosure and transparency (25 points). Then the aggregate of the bonuses and penalties (positive or negative) is incorporated to the base score to arrive at the company’s overall SGTI score.
