
Total trade expanded by 4.6% in May
Total exports increased by 3.3% while total imports grew by 6%.
International Enterprise Singapore reported:
On a y-o-y basis, total trade expanded by 4.6 per cent in May 2012, following the 1.5 per cent increase in the previous month. Total exports grew by 3.3 per cent in May 2012, after the 1.6 per cent expansion in the previous month. Total imports increased by 6.0 per cent in May 2012, following the 1.5 per cent rise in the preceding month.
On a m-o-m SA basis, total trade grew by 1.0 per cent in May 2012, compared to the 0.2 per cent decrease in the previous month. On a SA basis, the level of total trade reached S$84 billion in May 2012, identical to the previous month’s achievement. Total exports contracted by 2.2 per cent in May 2012, after the 3.0 per cent increase in the previous month. Total imports grew by 4.7 per cent in May 2012, compared to the 3.5 per cent decline in the previous month.
