
Transport services stall 2.5% in business receipts

According to SingStat, business receipts of the services industries, excluding wholesale & retail trade and accommodation & food services, remained at similar level in third quarter 2012 compared to the previous quarter.

Services industries registering growth in turnover during third quarter 2012 included education services (16.1%), real estate, rental & leasing services (2.2%), health & social services (1.4%) and recreation & personal services (0.5%).
On the other hand, lower receipts were collected by transport & storage services, business services excluding real estate, rental & leasing services and information & communications services with decreases of 2.5%, 2.0% and 1.4% in turnover respectively.
Likewise, the financial & insurance services industry also recorded a 0.8% decline in business receipts.
Compared to third quarter 2011, business receipts of the services industries, excluding wholesale & retail trade and accommodation & food services, grew by 2.7%.
All services industries except the recreation & personal services industry registered growth. Turnover of education services and health & social services rose 8.6% and 7.7% respectively.
Similarly, higher turnover was also reported by real estate, rental & leasing services (5.1%), information & communications services (3.8%), transport & storage services (2.3%), business services excluding real estate, rental & leasing (2.2%) and financial & insurance services (0.6%).
In contrast, the recreation & personal services industry experienced a drop of 2.2% in business receipts.
