
US investment in Singapore swells 39% to $394.84bn
But investment income fell 20%.
More American investors are putting their money on Singapore, as the United States' direct investment to the city-state has surged in 2015, along with the spike in investment in the APAC region.
According to the latest datasets by the US Department of Commerce, direct investment in the city-state spike 39% in 2015 from the previous year's $281.66 billion (US$206.96bn).
In 2015, the commerce department recorded a $394.84 billion (US$288.67bn) investment to Singapore.
However, investment income slowed 20%, registering $31.2 billion (US$22.89bn). This is less than the income posted in 2014 at $39.15 billion (US$28.77bn).
Over Asia Pacific, US investment grew 4.3% to US$778.35 billion. Income, on the other hand, fell 14.82% from US$77.17 billion to US$65.73 billion.
Meanwhile, Singapore's foreign investment in the United States also dipped, decling 5.4% to $26.43 billion (US$19.42). But its investment income inched up 11.8% to $1.27 billion (US$0.93bn)
