We choose you: Why Singapore keeps on beating Hong Kong in relocation race for workers
It’s the only Asian destination in the Top 10.
The number of professionals who are currently working abroad or are interested in relocating overseas now stands at a staggering 235 million.
Singapore remains Asia’s most desirable destination for professionals who want to work abroad, a recent survey by the Hydrogen Group and ESCP Europe revealed.
The survey, entitled “Global Professionals on the Move”, ranked Singapore 7th among the 15 most favored relocation countries. It is the only Asian country in the Top 10.
The only other Asian country in the Top 15 is Hong Kong, but it is a far contender at rank 11. This is a marked slip from last year, during which it was pegged at rank 8.
According to the report, “Singapore retains its spot as the top destination in Asia to relocate to but has widened the gap with Hong Kong over the five years highlighting the increasing importance of Singapore to the global business community.”
The report further noted that top destinations for most professionals remain unchanged year on year, with English-speaking countries still dominating the top five. The US, UK, and Australia remained the the three most preferred countries for relocation.
