Preply analysed the job search platform Upwork and found that the average yearly salary for side hustles is from $11,693 to $21,153. 60% of the top 20 side hustles offer an hourly rate of $50 or higher.
Acting gigs come in first place, providing $21,153 extra cash on a yearly average, or $86.09 per hour.
Second place is photography with a potential $20,352 annually, or $82.83 per hour assuming a freelancer works five hours a week.
Coming in third is content creation with an average of $15,346 extra cash per year or $62.45 an hour.
Other profitable side jobs are video editing and search engine optimisation, bringing in an average of $13,860 and $12,838 of extra annual income respectively.
As for language side hustles, Portuguese-speaking freelancers take the lead with an additional $22,210 to their annual salary or $90.39 an hour.
Italian comes next, with an average daily rate of $75.22, followed by Spanish ($67.31), German ($61.50) and Indonesian ($59.66).
